Six Hornets Named to All Region Teams
May 1, 2009 Seniors Kevin Herlihy and Derrick Thomas and Junior Zane Evans are named first team all region. Junior Andrew Smith was named second team all region and Seniors Evan Shults and Preston Hatcher were named honorable mention.
First Team

Senior first baseman and pitcher Kevin Herlihy started 4 games and finished the seaon 5-0 with 2 saves and a 1.70 ERA in 10 appearances. In 33 innings pitched, opponents batted just .219 with 14 runs, 8 earned runs, 6 walks, 35 strikeouts, 3 doubles, 3 home runs and 1 hit batters. Kevin batted .302 with 29 hits for 96 at bats, 6 doubles, 3 triples, 3 home runs, 2 walks, 4 sacrifices and a team leading 28 rbi's. Kevin stole 7 bases and had a .316 on base percentage and .521 slugging percentage.

Senior right fielder Derrick Thomas led the team in hits, runs, doubles, home runs, stolen bases, on base percentage and slugging percentage. Derek batted a team leading .479 with 45 hits for 94 at bats, 30 runs, 11 doubles, 2 triples, 7 home runs and 13 walks and 23 rbi's. Derek led the team with 15 stolen bases and had a .542 on base percentage and .862 slugging percentage.

Junior Zane Evans played catcher and pitcher. Zane started 8 games and finished the season 5-1 with a 3.75 ERA in 11 appearances. In 52.2 innings pitched, opponents batted just .216 with 30 runs, 28 earned runs, 16 walks, 54 strikeouts, 7 doubles, 6 home runs and 3 hit batters. Zane batted .371 with 33 hits for 89 at bats, 21 runs, 6 doubles, 3 home runs, 15 walks and 14 rbi's. Zane had a .462 on base percentage and .539 slugging percentage.
Second Team

Junior pitcher Andrew Smith started 8 games and finished the seaon 6-5 and a 3.26 ERA in 11 appearances. In 62.2 innings pitched, opponents batted just .219 with 31 runs, 29 earned runs, 12 walks, 51 strikeouts, 6 doubles, 2 triples, 7 home runs and 2 hit batters.
Second Team - Honorable Mention

Senior second baseman Evan Shults batted .299 with 29 hits for 97 at bats, 21 runs, 6 doubles, 12 walks and 14 rbi's. Evan stole 13 bases and had a .376 on base percentage and .361 slugging percentage.

Senior pitcher Preston Hatcher started 8 games and finished the seaon 5-1 and a 3.29 ERA in 10 appearances. In 34 innings pitched, opponents batted just .200 with 22 runs, 16 earned runs, 21 walks, 32 strikeouts, 8 doubles, 1 triples, 1 home runs and 3 hit batters.
